Friendly advice and support

Ageing doesn’t come with a manual. There are often times when we may face difficult and challenging situations and have no-one to turn to for help. For thousands of older people and their carers, our advice line experts provide friendly and professional guidance on a range of issues.

By 2020 one in five people will be over 65, and as the number of older people increases there will be a greater need for our help and advice. Thanks to the ongoing support of people like you, we are planning ahead to meet this challenge.

Age UK’s Advice Line is a critical part of our Information and Advice service. Every year we distribute around 3.6 million printed and online resources to help with individual enquiries.

Our friendly advice line team are on hand 365 days a year, 11 hours a day, ready to answer questions about almost any aspect of later life. In a typical day our advice line experts take a really diverse range of calls: advice on care, pension queries, going into hospital, bereavement, help with technology or information about benefits.

Our experts are on hand every day to offer advice over the phone, send out information guides, direct people to their local Age UK for face to face advice, give them details of other organisations that can help, or offer more specific advice if they have a complex query.

For many callers, just being able to talk to a friendly person who will listen and advise them, can make all the difference between feeling utterly helpless and knowing there is hope.
